The midnight of Friday was just that much darker. We found him as though asleep in the lounge. The previous day was like any other; filled with treats, shouldercat taxis and frequent visits. Which is why it was a major shock for all of us.
I know, for many of you it’s just a cat, but for us he was a constant companion, who loved us and actively sought out our company. His absence betrays the gaping hole he’s left in our life. Everywhere I look is painted by his shadow; his favourite sleeping spot, the pile of cat biscuits left uneaten, the very much loved catnip banana.
This photo was taken a few weeks prior; his favourite sleeping spot directly opposite my room’s door. He’d usually be waiting there for me.
It still hurts too much to write more, but I focus on the many great memories of him and am glad that not a minute of our time together was wasted.
My deepest thanks to everyone who kept me company in this sorrow; Sgyreju, Lanky and Misi. It helped a lot.
